Remove Windows 11 AI Features
Windows keeps adding AI-adjacent surfaces, suggestions, app permissions, and content prompts. Some people want those features. Others want a quieter PC that does less in the background and asks fewer questions.
First decide what you actually want to disable
Windows 11 now groups several different features under the broad AI umbrella. They do not all behave the same way, and disabling one does not necessarily disable the others. It is better to review each feature individually than to apply an undocumented "remove all AI" script.
Click to Do
On supported Copilot+ PCs, Click to Do analyzes a screenshot of what is currently on screen so it can offer actions for selected text and images. Microsoft documents that the screenshot analysis is performed locally on the device, and the feature can be turned off under Settings > Privacy & security > Click to Do. Microsoft also provides administrative policy controls for disabling it.
Recall and saved snapshots
Recall is separate from the normal Click to Do setting. Microsoft currently describes Recall snapshot saving as opt-in. Users can turn snapshot saving off under Settings > Privacy & security > Recall & snapshots, and Recall can also be removed as an optional Windows feature on supported PCs.

Areas worth reviewing
- App privacy permissions for background access, diagnostics, and personalization.
- Clipboard history, launch tracking, suggestions, tips, and consumer prompts.
- Click to Do style surfaces and selected AI policy settings when available on the PC.
- Paint AI policy surfaces and other built-in app features that may appear after updates.
- Cloud or account-linked extras that Windows updates can reintroduce later.
